THE VISION

A church taking root.
A life shared in Christ.

A local church rooted in Christ, making disciples and loving its neighbors. Explore the convictions, place, and ministries shaping this work.

A healthy church.
Disciples who mature.
Leaders who serve.

Our aim is a lasting local congregation that knows Christ, lives under his Word, and makes disciples.

Iglesia La Roca is a church plant in San Pedro La Laguna, Guatemala. We are in the early work of gathering and discipling a core team, with a weekly open Bible study already underway.

We envision a church marked by expository preaching, prayer, baptism and the Lord’s Supper, meaningful membership, and qualified local elders. We want to develop mature disciples who can serve their neighbors and, in time, help new churches take root.

OUR MESSAGE

Salvation in Christ alone

By grace alone, through faith alone. Christ’s finished work is the foundation of our hope and the message we proclaim.

OUR AUTHORITY

God’s sufficient Word

Scripture shapes our teaching, worship, discipleship, and life together. Our theological convictions are Reformed.

OUR LEADERSHIP

A church governed by elders

We are working toward qualified local leadership, accountable care, and a congregation equipped for ministry.

A Bible open.
A meal shared.
A church taking root.

Friends sharing time around the table at one of our Bible study gatherings

On Friday afternoons in San Pedro, we gather to sing, open the Bible, eat together, and play board games.

We study Scripture verse by verse. We make room for questions. And we stay at the table, because knowing one another matters.

These ordinary rhythms are part of the church we hope to become: a people shaped by the gospel, learning to love God and one another with our whole lives.

Our planting team also meets every Wednesday. We are learning to follow Christ together as we prepare for the responsibilities of life as a local church.

THE CONVICTION THAT HOLDS US TOGETHER

Living the gospel.
Loving people.
Flourishing together.

Christ at the center. Scripture as our authority.
Grace that changes both what we believe and how we live.

AN EXPRESSION OF CHURCH LIFE

Faithful teaching.
In the heart’s language.

SÓLIDA creates and translates Christ-centered resources to help people grow in their faith. The first language focus is the Tz’utujil of Santiago Atitlán. ROCCA is the audio player being developed to make those resources accessible.

Serving families.
Because Christ
changes how we love.

Mercy is one way a church bears witness to the King it follows.

The gospel reconciles us to God and forms a people who love their neighbors. As we follow Jesus, we want our care to offer a small, tangible glimpse of his kingdom: compassion, dignity, and hope in ordinary life.

For now, that means visiting families, listening, sharing the gospel, and helping with small, immediate needs. Help is freely offered; it is never conditional on attending church or professing faith.

Looking ahead, we hope to explore clean-water projects, a tilapia farm, and family gardens with local families. These ideas need feasibility work and separate funding before they can become commitments.

Rooted in San Pedro.
Open to where God leads.
